Doula Carlyle provides holistic doula care for expecting mothers and new parents in San Diego county. With a focus on compassionate support, I am dedicated to providing personalized care to ensure a positive birthing and postpartum experience for you and your family.
As a seasoned Birth Doula, a Parent Educator and a certified Postpartum Doula, I specialize in helping new and expectant families feel confident as they welcome their new baby into the world and navigate becoming first time parents, or meeting the needs of an expanding family.

I’ve coached hundreds of parents through labor and birth, offering emotional, physical, and informational support throughout this life altering experience. We’ll work together throughout your pregnancy to prepare you, your partner, and family/support system for your upcoming birth.

I specialize in guiding and supporting families who didn’t really have the initial birth scenario they were hoping for, and are seeking a more positive experience this time around. I’d love to help you create a birth plan that outlines your vision, and then discuss the critical junctures where we can reiterate your preferences. If you and your partner need an advocate during stressful moments, I’ll help you find your voice.

When your newborn arrives, I can provide education, reassurance, and nurturing for your entire household. I have a natural knack with babies, but ultimately I would love to help you develop the confidence to move forward in parenting with the send of "we've got this!"

I have a Montessori certificate from ages birth to three years, and have spent many years as an infant, toddler, and preschool caregiver. I taught Newborn Care and various Childbirth Preparation classes for more than a decade.
I’m willing to share my knowledge with your family while respecting the philosophies you have for yourselves as parents. My goal is to leave your family feeling confident in your own parenting abilities.

Birth Doula Support
I trained through UC San Diego Health’s Doula Program and I've been at the births of more than 250 babies, as of 2024. I use education and information, encouragement, emotional support, massage, breathing, aromatherapy, affirmations, imagery, and more to help throughout labor. I can't make any promises about the outcome of your birth, but I can promise you that I will be with you every step of the way.

I help to educate, inform, and reassure both the laboring person and their partner, while working in tandem with the medical team. I am not a medical professional and will not give you medical advice in any form.

I am not advocating any particular childbirth method, pain prevention, or ‘birth plan’, except for yours. I will help you to find evidence based research that will guide you to make informed choices. I am here to help you do what you are doing in the manner that you want to do it.

Resource and informational support from time of contract signing through early postpartum. I'm available by phone or text for questions, information, or reassurance.

Two or more pre-labor in person meetings (with partner), to discuss birth plan, pain management options, comfort techniques, and any other concerns. We can go over basic stages of labor and coping methods for different emotions and sensations that you may experience.

At home, hands on labor guidance. I can support you through the earliest stages in the comfort of your own space, and then help you decide when it is time to go to the hospital or birth center.

Support at your birth location throughout entire labor and delivery. I'll see you through the entire experience, take some pictures so that you can both be in the present moment, and then stay with you until baby is happily latched at the breast.​

Postpartum Doula Support
At night, I can bring baby to you for feedings, then be the one to change diapers and soothe baby back to sleep so that you can continue to rest. If needed, I can also take over all care and feeding for the night, offering baby pumped breast milk or formula while you get a good night’s sleep. Relax, knowing that baby is in safe and loving hands while you recuperate.

During daytime hours, I'm happy to keep baby settled while you rest, shower, or have a moment to yourself. I'm equally happy tidying your kitchen and making you breakfast while YOU cuddle baby and ask me questions. I can set up baby equipment, wash and organize baby clothing, put your nursery together, or even write thank you notes for your baby gifts. Whatever you need done to feel supported and reassured by a warm, compassionate and baby-savvy new friend, I can be there for you. With extensive training and experience regarding newborns, I can also help new parents understand baby behavior and learn to respond to their early cues for hunger, physical discomfort, or need for sleep.

I'm available for both daytime and overnight support, for single babies or even multiples. I’ve worked with dozens of twin families and can offer guidance and best practices. I also have extensive experience with preemies. Get in touch and we can talk about options that will work best for your family – even if you have no idea what that might look like just yet.

I taught Newborn Care at UCSD Health for 12 years. I can help manage your expectations, reassure you about what is normal, show you how to change a diaper or get up a burp, and most importantly, show you how your baby communicates with you about their needs. I can help you identify cues for hunger, discomfort, gas, sleepiness, and more. Babies are easy, once you 'speak' their language. I can offer you so much peace of mind.
